“No More Deaths” by Kirt Shineman

This play is about humanitarian aid and the criminalization of compassion. When ASU professor Scottlan Warren began her “Good Samaritan” work in the Sonoran Desert, she never thought leaving water for migrants crossing the border would make the Federal Government go after her for human trafficking, but that’s exactly what happens after Kristiana and Josè show up in her barn. This story shows the tragedy of immigrating across the desert, and the lives impacted when one person tries to prevent migrant deaths.

Shadow Rock’s New Play series invites audience members to interact with new works in their early stages of development. Through talkback sessions with the playwright and actors, valuable feedback is given to the author while the audience gains behind-the-scenes insight into the playwriting process. Shadow Rock presents these plays as works of art, and does not necessarily endorse or support the viewpoints expressed by their authors.

This event is presented by Shadow Rock UCC and Phoenix Theatre Company
