Sundays @ 10:45 – 11:45 a.m. (after worship)

(To find class locations, check the large “Education Menu” outside of the Sanctuary.)

Our Spring 2012 Themes:

January
Out With the Old, In With the New
We’ll be celebrating the new year by making new promises and resolutions, and ridding ourselves of old bad habits and ideas.

February and March
Valuable Values II: The Story of Jesus
A close examination of the life and ministry of Jesus, and how it relates to the values of fairness, leadership, kindness and courage.

April
Our Great Earth
A month of Earth-friendly activities that promote conservation and respecting nature and God’s creation.

May
Kids Book Club
An innovative month where kids read and discuss age-appropriate material – just like an adult’s book club!

During worship:

  • Nursery Care (Blue Room) is available for children under three during worship and education programming.
  • Growing Place (Purple Room) is available for children three years old to those in second grade as an alternative to attending the worship service.

Goals of the Children's Education Program:

  • To provide a safe, nurturing environment for children to explore themselves and their spirituality.  At Shadow Rock, children are seen AND heard – and celebrated!
  • To provide a curriculum that is Biblically-based, but not dogmatically-driven. We strive to balance the faith stories of our Christian heritage with the ongoing search for meaning in today’s world.
  • To connect our young people with the other members of our church and community by encouraging volunteerism – both on the part of our children, and on the part of congregation members to participate in our classes and programs.
  • To partner closely with parents and families, as we work together to give children the faith education and memorable experiences that will shape them into the caring community members of tomorrow.

For questions about our Children's Education Program or to volunteer to help facilitate, please contact Abeth Spencer in the church office.
